On the 2nd October 2000, Skandal released their debut single " CHAMPAGNE HIGHWAY". For the fans that had waited for over 2 years - It was obviously great news, and they did all they could to help Skandal chart.
Champagne Highway is a wicked song - and a great choice for a debut - The hard-hitting, Funky song went down with all the fans and the band always manage to play it well - The song reminds you of "Early 5ive" - But Skandal also have their own style - which is what is going to make them so popular.
However, When Skandal first announced the release of their Debut - Many people thought nothing of it - Thinking that they were just another "Boyband" attempting to make it big - So, The fans got together - and made the world finally sit up and listen...
Fans met up in most of the major cities, all over the country and distrubted leaflets to shops, Clubs and members of the public - making sure they ALL knew about the release of Champage Highway.
When "The Box" Decided against playing the video - It was the fans that bombarded them with emails and telephone calls - making petitions and demanding that The Box play the video - Which they eventually did.
It was the fans that requested the song local radio - making it Number 1 in Essex - and Top 10 in other places all over the country.
Skandal have a dedicated fanbase - and its them that really made the world sit up and listen to CHAMPAGNE HIGHWAY... So the world had better watch out for Skandal Release #2.
For the video, James, Darren, Matty and Matt invited 1000's of fans to Londons Astoria - to help them re-create a wicked Concert vibe - The fans did a great job - and the result is a great video...
